Campaign Description

Ale'd Events celebrates the art of craft brewing and creates community, offering affordable and accessible wellness practices, by pairing our unique events with locally crafted beer culture. We get intimate with many of the great craft breweries and wineries that Alberta has to offer, and our plan is to return to delivering our fully immersive in-person events and programs on site at our partnered venues as they start to reopen with caution during this time. In the meantime, Ale'd Events has gone virtual and has developed engaging and content-rich online programming to continue pushing our message of #SelfCareIsHealthCare. Redirections in our deliverables such as offering local craft beer tasting packages for our attendees to sip along with us on our high-production ZOOM sessions. We are best known for our SIP + STRETCH beer yoga sessions, which typically occur at a growing list of unique venues around Alberta, more specifically, carefully curated taphouses and halls. Our business model’s UVP is the approachability factor (craft brings people together after all) and the entertainment quality that you don’t get from studios or 1-dimensional YouTube sessions, or other online streaming facilitated by yoga instructors themselves. Additionally, our certified wellness partners are very personable and enjoy being able to add a little more of their own personality into their practices. It translates to our attendees very effectively. #Selfcareishealthcare campaign is ever-more relevant in our current times, such that, now more than ever, we must take pause and connect with ourselves, and be vulnerable in the presence of our community. Ale'd Events promotes balance - body, mind and beer. Our goal is to dig deeper into the virtual event world by acquiring the technologies, systems, and equipment to produce high quality, immersive experiences to our event guests. We will allocate 75% of funds raised to purchase necessary hardwares and softwares to: <> Improve production quality of audio/ visual marketing assets and video streaming experience <> Enhance video editing capabilities and data storage capacity <> Operate more efficiently and effectively on site at event venue 25% of raised funds will support aggressive brand awareness marketing drives as well as event registration promotions for upcoming Summer Sessions 2020 programming. Ale'd Events would also like to invite the corporate community of Calgary to consider Ale'd Events as a perfect solution to your next conference or team-building event experience.

If We're Anything Alike...

If we're anything alike, a few things we both experienced during COVID lockdown were...

1) Going nutty without being able to meet up with a friend(s) for a fresh, frothy, locally brewed (like in the room next door) craft ale. As we all know, the options for a great pint in Alberta are vast these days, and each and every drop of this community-building beverage is made with great intention and crafted care to be enjoyed with your pals. I only just began trying to hit them all up while collecting new friends along the way before this global crisis. My go-to means of connecting with my community looks a whole lot differently now.

My community is my lifeline and being told not to hug, hold, sing with, laugh with, sweat with, share a beer flight with is causing compound stress on top of all of the other complications of COVID and living with a chronic condition. My beer drinking buddies are the ones with whom I do the things that bring me joy; they are those who are always there for talk therapy. They're the ones who know how much I enjoy a frosty saison after a long hike and that if I have a dark beer in my hand, there's likely a something deep I'm dealing with.

If we have another thing in common, it's likely that ...

2) We forget to allow ourselves the space to let go of our daily distractions and pause occasionally to breathe deeply through life's pains. We tend not to be gentle with ourselves and retreat when we are wounded.

I realized that the only way I could really know how to heal is to look at it, breathe deeply and share it with my community. The practice of Yoga was a vessel for me to reconnect myself to my body and learn many techniques that will continue to help me through the rough days of my chronic depression. I started just like everyone else, all awkward and unable to split her legs wider than 90 degrees, but I was committed to carrying out activities that were helping me with the symptoms of my illness. Problem is that I did not find gyms and studios to be my cuppa so I didnt' feel comfortable creating community there.

Which leads me to one last thing we may or may not agree on...

3) Stuffy yoga studios and traditional gyms uninspired venues to get our dose of self-care in and we tend to avoid such conventions.

With 20 years of event production experience, venue/ ambience is a massive factor in decisions lsuch as where I choose to spend my money and my time. Setting the right tone to any event where we get to share the company of others is my wheelhouse. And, knowing breweries as well as I do, by the 15 years of holding the title "award-winning brewmaster's wife", I saw an opportunity to make good on my aversion to the tradional self-care scene and start hosting them myself in a space that is all too familiar to me - a taphouse.

Craft + Community + Selfcare = Ale'd Events

Ale'd Events (est. Feb 2020) works with a list of partnered venues and craft creators who are all aligned with making fun fitness accessible to our mutual communities. These taphouses, brewhouses and halls have been carefully curated to offer unique settings with the capacities and facilities to pair perfectly with wellness programs, corporate conferences and team-building events (repsonsibly).

Spring and summer 2020 was lining up to be a fully booked season consisting of our regularly occuring wellness "sessions" as well as several industry collab projects and private beer/ wine pairing dinners. We were scheduled each week at a frequency of three different sessions all set at variuos times to be accessible to all lifestyle groups, and schedules. Our four partnered brewery/ winery venues were introduced to additional revenue streams as we would utilize these spaces outside of normal operating hours, and this would encourage our participants to stay on and enjoy a post-class social beer with new friends, and try out any other services available at these establishments.

ENTER COVID

As we have been unable to host our sessions live in person, our pivot strategy is to hybrid an  in-person (restriced) and virtual event experience through online streaming + pre-recorded video combo in order to deliver our content. During the past 6 weeks, my wellness team and I have been piloting this model quite successfully and we have discovered ways to optimize the engagement experience between hosts and attendees whether in the room or not.

Our most recent event series was SIP + STRETCH beer yoga sessions which were themed "What's Your Beer Style?". Each week, I started our class by featuring a different beer style and discussing its differenciating qualities with the group. Participants were free to use whatever beer (or none) they had on hand to cheers us with, or choose to order our feature beer package which included the delivery of a mystery local craft beer in the feature style to our session member's door so they could sip along with us.

Having tested the market in this capacity, I am excited at the prospect of being able to share #selfcareishealthcare with a great deal more humans through an upgrade to the technology and systems required to get it to them with the same level of quality and care as I put into my events.

Please help Ale'd Events grow this beautique-style event delivery. Limited capacity events are likely going to be the way we gather with community in the forseable future.
