It has been said that cats heal the body and dogs heal the soul, so, what can pigs do for you? Come check it out and see for yourself! Here at Pigtopia, we are working towards creating an animal assisted mental health healing center, offering visits with the animals, picnic spots, birthday parties, camping and special events all in an outdoor environment under the sun and stars! This new family fun farm opened in the summer of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, and offers a safe place for some outdoor fun while families learned new ways to deal with the ongoing health crisis. Now, in 2021, we are building a more creative path for you to reconnect with your friends, family or even yourself in the sanctity of nature and with the animals.

After losing our home in a house fire during Christmas of 2018 I found peace and solitude in the pen of my pigs. Being the exceptionally smart animals that they are, my pigs were able to offer me such comfort during stressful times after the fire. After spending some much needed time rebuilding our life after the fire, my passion turned to the outdoors with my pigs. Then COVID happened.

Pigtopia became the next big thing in the county of Leduc. Despite the uncharted territory that came with the pandemic, and navigating physical and social distancing restrictions, we wanted to offer our friends and their kids a safe, fun place to explore. Seeing the joy and excitement was so wonderful. We realized this space was exactly what was needed while we all tried to maneuver our way through new, scary and trying economic times. The opportunity to take farm tours, feed and pet the animals was widely adopted by so many families throughout the province. Seeing the benefits of animal therapy not just for us but also for the animals too made us realize that this could be a way to reach many people who are looking for something to help them through these tough times. The last several months during the pandemic has created so much stress and tension, our mental health has taken a beating from job loss, income uncertainty, and isolation. It has made us aware, here at Pigtopia that the need for something to help raise our energetic vibrations to get through these times is very much necessary.

Our goal is to create a soothing, sanctuary, a safe place for families, old friends, new friends and co workers to find peace and calm, while also following the public health measures put in place to keep us all safe as we navigate what is looking to be the new normal. We want to help others find the fun in our outdoor space whether it is piggy playtime, walking with the ponies or sitting in the sun enjoying your own company Pigtopia is sure to bring you the peace and comfort you are looking for.

It is important to us that we expand to offer more services and ensure that we are able to provide accessibility for seniors and people with disabilities. We want everyone to be able to participate in the wonderful therapy that the outdoors and our animals have to offer! Our goal with this campaign is to make safe pathways that are suitable for walkers and wheelchairs, provide ramps to entrances of animal pens and offer extra seating areas for rest stops during tours.

We are very excited to announce a few new features here at Pigtopia! First, we will be opening our special event rustic barn venue in the spring of 2021! Another exciting addition for the 2021 season will be mini golf! Lastly, our piggies would love to have a large wading pool to enjoy during the hot summer months. It would be a dream come true to provide a two foot deep, paved dugout to provide cool water to our four legged friends and ensure the safety of not getting stuck in the mud! Affordability is key to us at Pigtopia and we want you to have a stress and hassle free event, while knowing you will make lasting memories with your loved ones too! FAQs

Do you have to have kids to come to Pigtopia!

Absolutely not! This is our number one asked question and Pigtopia is for everyone at every age and stage in their life!

Are the grounds stroller and wagon friendly?

Yes they are! We have two sizes of gates depending on the sizes of either! We can accommodate strollers, wagons, walkers and wheelchairs!

Are you a rescue?

We are not a registered rescue. However, we do get calls often from families who need to find homes for their pets. We quite often will do what we can to help, including taking in a new pack member from time to time. This campaign will help us with building special home like rooms for just this case!

What does it cost?

We offer a variety of activities here. Farm tours are $35 for a family, birthday parties are $150, camping is $60 per night and in the spring we are hoping to add a wedding venue and mini golf! For a more detailed price list you can go to our website at www.pigtopia.ca

Do you host events?

We have events planned every month from February to June of this year! We are hoping the COVID restrictions will be lifted so we can carry on with them! All our events are listed on our facebook page complete with dates, times and costs! Check us out on Facebook at The Loving Community of Pigtopia.

What can I expect on my tour?

You can enjoy a farm tour with a guide. The guide will go through and introduce you to all the animals on the farm. You will have the wonderful opportunity to go in selected pens to play with a few pigs too! After your tour if you have booked a picnic spot, there are 3 spots to choose from for a relaxing spot for lunch. Pigtopia has an abundance of paths through the trees for a nice walk and lots of great spots for photo opportunities.

Do you rent your space for corporate events?

Absolutely! Pigtopia is a great place for corporate events! Retreats, BBQ's, work place team building sessions and so much more! You can rent the entire property for a full or half day session.

What should I bring? Can I bring food for the animals?

We do not allow outside food for the animals. We sell precut fresh veggies for $5 per bag. Before you arrive, dress for the weather, wear closed toed shoes, and bring a camera to take as many pictures as you like!

Where can we park?

There is plenty of parking when you come in the gate to your right. And we have overflow parking should we be hosting an event as well!

How long can I stay?

If you have booked a tour, generally they take 45 minutes to an hour. If it is nice out and you have booked a picnic spot you are welcome to stay there and visit for an additional hour. The picnic spots are booked for the end of each tour in advance. You are welcome to walk through the pathways as well but we ask that you do not go to the pig pen area without a guide.

What are your COVID-19 hygiene practices?

We keep up to date on all COVID-19 updates. Our washroom facilities are cleaned after each tour, we use gloves when handling the food for the animals and sanitize often. With the current restrictions, we are booking single family tours only and will update as the restrictions lift or change.

Are there on site bathroom facilities and hand washing stations?

Currently we have one washroom complete with toilet and sink. This spring we plan to put in outdoor bathrooms and hand washing stations throughout the areas.

Is there a gift shop?

We do have a gift shop! Complete with t-shirts, coffee mugs, keychains and baking! We hope to add an AHS approved concession this spring as well!

How does the adopt an animal program work?

You can adopt one of our fun loving animals here and visit as often as you like! Our pigs love to have families visit and feed them treats. The adoption for pigs is $25 per month, they live on the farm with us and get to have visitors through the tours and other adoptive families visiting too. You then get to come in and visit anytime we are open and as often as you like! The horses are also on the adoption program and their adoption fee is $50 per month! The same procedure as the pigs too, coming out to visit as often as you like! You are encouraged to do lots of research on what the animals like and our guide will help with tips of what the animals prefer for treats and tricks!

Are pictures allowed?

Absolutely! We love to see photos of our animals on social media! If you share them please tag us on instagram at @Communityofpigtopia or Facebook at Pigtopiacommunity

Do the animals bite?

Just like any animal, they can bite. When you book your tour you are asked to only go with a guide. Our guide will explain the rules and the ways to feed the animals to protect your fingers.
