Let’s Make the Change Together! To increase production and provide Change Toothpaste to all Canadians, we need to invest in equipment and supplies.

Saving the world starts with small changes from the moment you wake up

Every morning, you brush your teeth. What happens with the toothpaste tube once it’s finished?  Chances are, like most of us do, it is thrown into the garbage without a second thought. This regular habit means each year we add more than 900 million toothpaste tubes to landfills and oceans on a global scale. Those tubes are made with more than 11 layers of plastics, polymers and resins that are unable to be recycled and take over 500 years to break down. It’s clear that a fundamental change is needed to protect our beautiful planet.

At Change Toothpaste, we’ve developed a toothpaste tablet that eliminates the need for a tube altogether. Packaged in 100% compostable pouches, our zero-waste tablets are a small change that have a big environmental impact.

Change Toothpaste is an easy way to reduce your environmental footprint and enjoy a clean, fresh brush—without any harsh chemicals. Our vegan-friendly tablets are all natural and contain no gluten, dairy, nuts or soy.

The A-Ha Moment

We wouldn’t be where we are today without Founder Mike Medicoff’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Sydney. Inspired to make her family’s home as zero-waste as possible, Syd had a Eureka moment when she realized toothpaste tubes are not recyclable.

After more research, our team discovered millions of tubes end up in landfills and oceans every year, wreaking havoc on our ecosystems. Bad news, right? But here’s the bright side: there is a simple solution!

We ordered some lab coats, rolled up our sleeves and got to work developing a no-tube toothpaste. We knew it had to taste good and work just like regular paste or people would not change that habit. After trying over a hundred formulations, we created the perfect toothpaste tablet recipe, that give you a clean, fresh brush without any harsh chemicals, and packaged in 100% compostable pouches. Just like paste, without the waste!

I was raised in a family of recyclers. We composted, grew our own food, and tried to minimize our environmental impact. But when I moved out, these habits fell away. Now, with my kids growing older, I’ve realized that I need to do more and take the initiative into my own hands. In partnership with Mike, sustainability has become a top priority, and it is invigorating to explore the possibilities this sector holds. With Change, I’ve not only been able to learn how to teach people about sustainability, but I’ve learned how to expand my own horizons as well.

My children’s commitment to sustainability has had an indelible impact on my decision to co-found Change. After learning how harmful traditional toothpaste tube are for the environment, I knew something needed to be done. Together, Damien and I have worked hard perfecting a recipe for a toothpaste tablet that can replace tubes. We knew we wanted an all-natural product that addressed allergies, preferences, and needs, and we are so proud of the recipe we’ve created. This is the small way I’ve chosen to educate about plastic pollution, and hopefully, I’ll leave the planet in a better condition than my kids found it.

WHAT ARE YOUR TABLET INGREDIENTS?

Dicalcium Phosphate: Commonly used as a food additive, used in toothpaste as a polishing agent and assists in tablet binding. Erythritol: A sugar alcohol made from corn and naturally occurring in pears and watermelon. Used for taste and repels bacteria that can cause cavities. Xylitol: A sugar alcohol found in most plant material and extracted from birch wood. Used for taste and repels bacteria that can cause cavities. Natural Spearmint Flavour: Extra spearmint flavour Bioterge As90: A plant based surfactant to makes the tablet foam when used with water. Sodium Bicarbonate: Reduces the acidity in your mouth and mild cleaner. Menthol: A compound obtained from peppermint oil. Gives that pop of freshness. Silicon Dioxide: Manufacturing Lubricant to help avoid clumping and naturally derived from the earth’s crust and makes up 95% of the rocks on the planet. HOW DO I USE THE TABLET?

Pop a tablet in your mouth, bite down a couple times, and brush with a wet toothbrush.

WHAT MAKES YOUR PRODUCT BETTER THAN TOOTHPASTE?

We’ve developed toothpaste tablets that remove the need for a plastic tube altogether. Packaged in compostable paper bags, they reduce your environmental footprint and give you a clean, fresh brush — without any harsh chemicals. The size of the tablet is also consistent each time the teeth are brushed and no gobs of paste left in the sink.

DO YOUR TABLETS HAVE FLUORIDE?

Not at this time.

ARE THE TABLETS SAFE FOR CHILDREN?

We have consulted with dentists and physicians to ensure all ingredients are safe.

HOW MANY TABLETS COME IN A PACKAGE?

65 tablets come in a 1-month order. 195 tablets come in a 3-month pouch. Enough to brush twice a day and extra to allow for unexpected breakage or the extra brush for date night.

HOW ARE THE TABLETS SHIPPED?

Change Toothpaste Tablets are packaged in a 100% compostable pouch. The pouch is Oxo-degradable based on the ASTM D6400 standard. Ensure the pouch goes into the compost when finished. We ship the pouches in a padded mailer that is filled with 100% recycled newspaper. Ensure the mailer is recycled after it arrives. If the package is bigger than a mailer, we use a cardboard box that is 100% recyclable.

ARE YOUR TABLETS EASY TO TRAVEL WITH?

Since they are not liquid, they can go anywhere and meet all requirements.

HOW WILL MY ORDER BE SHIPPED?

To minimize our carbon footprint, we offer Canada Post as our shipping option, as they have predetermined shipping routes that will not add more carbon to the environment.
