Being raised in an Enterpreneural family, I always knew I wanted to be my own boss.
After a successful career in construction enabled me to build a war chest, the Pandemic became the impetus to finally take a leap.In June 2020, out of a shared commercial ghost kitchen Uncle Brian's started production of Boerewors or "Farmers Sausage" and Biltong, an Air dried Beef snack oftern times compared to Beef Jerky, but of course better, tastier and healthier. In addition to Biltong we also produce a variety of equally popular meat snacks such as Biltong Bites, Cabanossi, Chilli Bites, and Drywors.
Our products have quickly taken off and have been well received through word of mouth among Southern African exparts living in and around Alberta and through our ventures in multiple Farmers markets across Edmonton.
Currently we have a permanent year round presence at Ardrossan Farmers Market, Bountiful Farmers Market, Callingwood Farmers Market, Downtown Farmers Market and Old Strathcona Farmers Market, St Albert Farmers Market and Windermere Farmers Market.
To keep up with production and demand as well as grow the business beyond the Farmers market scene we are working on a retail location which has ample production space and allows our customers to access a wider and better selection of products 7 days a week rather than weekends only at the markets.
With expanded production will allow us to fulfill further ambitions of having our products in grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations and other retail settings.
With 90% of renovations completed we hope to open our doors this summer. But as everyone knows opening up a retail location is no easy task and comes with a lot of costs. We are seeking help to cross the finish line.
The Biltong Revolution is currently spreading like wildfire across the globe with the product now being found in Walmart, Whole Foods, Target and other retailers shelves in almost all 50 States in the USA.
What's fuelling the Biltong Revolution? For one, people are looking for healthier alternatives in food choices, period!
Not only is Biltong a healthier snack, it's high in protein (60% by weight), it's free from sugars and has little to zero carbs. In addition it's gluten free, keto and paleo friendly and above all tastes amazing.

We have the equipment and capacity to produce 1,500lbs/week making us one of the largest Canadian producers to scale up commercially.

All our spices, seasonings and production equipment are authentic and all come directly from South Africa. The sky is the limit in terms of where this business can go given the level of excitement and investments being poured in the USA and globally.

We have a 2000sq ft meat shop and production space which will focus on serving our customers year round. The front portion consists of a 1000sq ft of retail space dedicated to be a full on meat shop serving gourmet cuts of locally sourced meat products such as dry aged steaks, beef, lamb, chicken, all kinds of sausage etc. the back is dedicated production space for all our air dried products and any of the processing of the retail cuts. In addition to meat we will be selling complimentary products such as seasonings, rubs, spices, marinated etc, sourced locally and from around the world.
Biltong is an air dried beef snack, local to South African cuisine. It is different from regular beef jerky in that it is made from prime cuts of beef and uses vinegar and Worcestershire sauce as the curing agent rather than smoked or baked like jerky. No sugars are added either and the primary seasoning is coriander, nutmeg and cloves. By hanging the meat to dry, you preserve the natural texture and flavour of the beef for a delicious, wholesome and guilt free snack
Boerewors means "Farmers Sausage" in Afrikaans or Dutch. What makes Boerewors different from any other type sausage is that it must be made from no less than 90% meat, of which no more than 30% can be fat. The remaining 10% can only consist of water or seasoning. Boerewors can be considered to be gourmet sausage, use of fillers and breading is typically forbidden, which is fairly typical with most sausage. Typically no mechanically separated meat or offals are used in the preparation of Boerewors unless such offals are natural casings. Coriander, nutmeg and cloves are main ingredients used for Boerewors, with coriander being the shinning armour. Some are made with mild, roasted, smoked, dominant coriander. There are many different reoginal variants of Boerewors depending which part of South Africa you come from
