We created this BoostR campaign to continue the quest to create the best fashion sock for men. For us to be able to create the best fashion sock we MUST have the best people. We are offering these amazing promotions to raise the funds needed to work with some of the greatest sock producers in Italy. We are going to train alongside the best to give you the best in quality, value and style. All proceeds will go directly into the training costs.
Plainsbreaker's goal is to move our manufacturing to Alberta where we will be the first cotton sock manufacturer in Canada. We want to provide Canadian consumers the opportunity to have custom fashion products made ethically, locally and at an affordable price and without the restrictions of high order quantities.
ATB is giving us the opportunity to procure the equipment and location to manufacture our product. This BoostR campaign will help cover the cost for the equipment manufacture to train our team directly at their factory in Italy. We are buying state of the art knitting machines that are used Internationally by high fashion sock manufacturers. The socks we produce will be of the very high quality but at a much more attainable price compared to most retailers.
We will be producing our socks with 77% Cotton, 21% Nylon, 2% Spandex for maximum comfort and longevity. We will also be producing a line of Merino Wool Lifestyle socks. These socks will be a compound of 80% Merino Wool, 18% Nylon, 2% Lycra. These socks will be sized mens 8 to 13.
Plainsbreaker began in 2017 over lunch and beers between two buddies, Troy Schmirler and Josh Collens. They both felt there was a need for men’s fashion sock at an affordable price. They were tired of being forced to pay $15-$30 for cool socks that express their personality. They wanted to provide trendy, quality socks at a price the average person could afford.
As a local Calgary business, they are excited to join the great company of other entrepreneurs in the city. Buying local has always been something they value and are excited to be a part of the movement. You can often find them in one of the many new breweries popping up around town, since craft beer is the commodity they most frequently purchase locally.
Plainsbreaker socks are currently manufactured in an ethically run factory in China. In the past, production in China has had a reputation for low quality goods and poorly treated staff. That isn’t a fair assumption to make anymore. The Chinese have some of the most well run and efficient factories in the world. Troy lived and worked in China for many years and has seen their exceptional manufacturing facilities first hand.
The name of the company was inspired by how the Rocky Mountains meet the prairies– they break the vast plains of Western Canada. Like their socks, they break plain. They can turn an ordinary outﬁt into something uniquely you – trendy, bold, fun and burst through the plain and mundane. The company vision is to provide everyday socks to the “every-man” regardless of the work or activity he is undertaking. The key to reaching that vision is selling the products priced in a way that makes them accessible to most people.
