The Remuda Horsemanship Program is currently undertaking a fundraising initiative tosupport the summer mountain camp programs for our participants.
Each year, for the last 5 years, youth in the Remuda Program have been able to attend these camps and practice the skills they have learned in the youth horsemanship program. This year due to funding cuts the camps had been cancelled, but a decision made by the kids and the facilitator to fundraise for these camps has them back on and taking place in August.
These camps take place in a semi wilderness setting, for the duration of five days. Participants help manage their own camp, assisting in caring for themselves, their horses, while enjoying riding their horses “down the trail” each day. The camp is a reward for youth who have participated in the Remuda Youth Program for "at risk" youth throughout the year and the goal of the camp is to let them enjoy it. Small groups of 4 – 5 youth have the opportunity to take part in the camp and for many of them this is a first time camping experience! The total cost for these camps is $12,000.00 however the remuda team and participants have been very busy fundraising and have already managed to raise almost half of the money needed. Remuda's Alberta BoostR campaign seeks to raise $6000.00 and complete our fundraising efforts so we can begin to organize and prepare for camp.
